JEREK FERNÁNDEZ
Puerto Rican tenor Jerek Fernández is in his second year as a Baumgartner Studio Artist at The Florentine Opera for the 2024-2025 season. During this season, he will perform as Remendado in Carmen, Damon in Acis & Galatea, and Guglielmo in Viva la Mamma. He will also serve as a cover for the role of Goro in Madama Butterfly.
During this past summer, Jerek participated in the studio artist program at Wolf Trap Opera. He performed as Parpignol in La Bohème and also covered the roles of Sprinks in Silent Night by Kevin Puts, as well as the tenor soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
For the 2023-2024 season, Jerek was a studio artist of The Florentine Opera and performed multiple roles in L'enfant et les sortilèges. He portrayed Clergy and covered Piquillo in Offenbach's Songbird. Additionally, Jerek understudied Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore and Duende in María de Buenos Aires.
Fernández has also served as a tenor for The Florentine Opera's Summer Ensemble. During this time, he performed the roles of Don Ottavio and Basilio in abridged versions of Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro. Additionally, Jerek was part of the Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera for their 2023 winter season.
